Project: Tourism & Events Queensland 2022
In 2022 Descent Productions ran an extensive 5 month project on the Great Barrier Reef out of Townsville, The Southern Great Barrier Reef, and Hervey Bay Regions. Tourism & Events Queensland required a powerhouse underwater film team to capture a range of ocean based destinations for a promotional campaign focused on driving domestic tourism to the Great Barrier Reef. The production spanned across multiple tropical islands, many reefs on The Southern Great Barrier Reef, and a few extremely remote destinations off Townsville.
Our team of 8 ran all aspects of the production from pre-production, acquiring film permits, scheduling operators, and managing talent, to on location production and managing run sheets, through to post production, where our in house editing team sorted through terabytes of footage and raw imagery to deliver 11 finished films showcasing the glory of the Great Barrier Reef, and an array of still images.
Underwater Highlight Reel
This isn’t a story driven destination film. There’s no story, no fancy SFX, no fast cuts, and no visual effects to hold your attention. This is just some straight up underwater footage to show you what our filmmakers are capable of. Even without all the fancy editing, I bet this will blow your mind, and maybe even loosen a few tears.
The Destination Films
In addition to producing the above film content which will be utilised across various campaigns in the years to come, our team also produced 11 destination films. Each of these films have been produced with a light story and sound design to promote a specific destination or attraction. Additionally social cuts have been provided for each film.
